Hello guys,

I am a newbie and would like to buy a customization computer from magic micro ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/INTEL-i5-34...0396600041?pt=Desktop_PCs&hash=item5d397f42e9
I was looking at:
Intel i5-2500k sandy bridge
msi z77a-g41
8gb (2x4gb) PC10600 DDR3 13333
gtx 550 ti 2gb
500gb seagate barracuda 16mb
logisys 600w extra quiet atx psu
cooler master elite 311 black
comes out to $774

Could you guys help me out by customizing so that I can get the most out of it for around $800. By the way, I am not sure if I am posting on the right forum since I won't be building the pc. Please let me know if this is inappropriate, I would erase this thread asap. Thank you.

Not a good buy, primarily on the account of its extremely horrible PSU. Logisys "600W" PSUs have been known to explode into flames just trying to handle even 250W. In other words, that PSU cannot handle even half of its claimed wattage rating without severely damaging some or all of the components of that system.

Another not-so-good choice is the motherboard: It cannot take the full advantage of that Z77 chipset, based on the tests at the [H]. Why get a PC with a technically overclockable motherboard that really cannot handle even a modest overclock at all?

Third, the GPU isn't powerful enough for any newer games played at even 1600x900 resolution without having to turn down the detail settings below Medium. What's more, it is an older-generation part that consumes a lot of electricity for such moderate performance.

Finally, why the older-generation i5-2500K when you can get a newer-generation i5-3570K or i5-3570 for just a few dollars more?

In addition to what E4g1e said, it's not worth buying a 500 series card when you can get a newer better designed 600 series GPU, the 3570k is a better buy than a 2500k and your budget should be enough to fit a 1TB hard drive.

Just noticed you aren't planning to build the PC yourself. Who's putting it together for you then?
 
If you absolutely positively cannot buy a PC anywhere else or don't have anyone local that can build the PC for you, then start with the basic setup which is the:
Intel Core i5-3450
MSI B75-MA-E33
4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333 RAM
500GB Seagate SATA 3

But upgrade the video card to the HD 7850 2GB and the PSU to the Antec Earthwattts 500W. Do NOT go with any PSU listed below the Antec Earthwatts 500W as every single PSU listed bloew the Antec Earthwatts by that site are all massively shitty. The total for the system should be $840. Over budget yes but thats the price you will have to pay if you want a solid bang for the buck system from that company.

RAM: Corsair vengeance series 8gb ddr3-1600 $50
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm sata 6.5 500gb $57

What do you guys think? Anything I need to be concerned about? Also could anyone suggest a decent computer case for this specs? Thank you.

The PSU is the one not-so-good part on that list: It's an OCZ, so expect shoddy customer support quality if you have any trouble with or related to the PSU. And although the Fatal1ty series can handle its rated wattage, it is an older design that isn't as efficient as newer PSUs. Finally, that planned build of yours does not need anywhere close to 750W from the PSU. In fact, with that GTX 650 1GB card, that build can run on only a 400W to 500W PSU (but make sure that it's a good quality unit, not a crappy quality unit).

In addition, the RAM is now a tad overpriced: While $50 per 8GB would have been a decent value a year and a half ago, there are 8GB dual-channel kits that sell for $40 or even less nowadays.
