I have 2 74gb raptors in RAID 0. then i have a 160gb wd 7200k sata hardrive. Before i did these test i defragmented both hardrives. On pcmark 04 my hardrive score for the RAID 0 setup is 4800 and on the 160gb the score is 8300. and then on pcmark02 the RAID 0 is 1400 and the 160gb is 2500 score. Why is the single hardrive so much faster? this isnt making sence to me. Any clues?

Yes, the clue is that PCMark sucks as a hard drive performance metric. Ignore its conclusions and use something better. Unfortunately, the better benchmarks cost hundreds of dollars and are intended for professionals, but HD Tach would be a good start.

in theory raid0 is only good for sustained transfer rates, it kills your seek time.
The benchmark is possibly transferring lots of small files in which case raid0 loses.

Its also been said that raid0 is fairly worthless for speeding up your hd system. I havent used it, so i couldnt tell you for sure.

Dude, you dropped a #$%#$ of money on that Dell.

Also note the storagereview.com articles on the hype that is RAID 0.
