How quiet? What other fans are in your case?

I'll tentatively recommend the Antec TruePower series or the Fortron/Sparkle FSP series. You'll get more power for your money with the Fortrons, but warranty handling would probably be easier with the Antecs. Other brands worth noting are the Thermaltake Silent PurePower series, Zalman's power supplies, and Enermax's Noisetaker series.

There also exists a market of its own that includes exceptionally quiet and truly silent PC power supplies. With these, you're going to pay more because the power supplies are often hand modified, but they are crucial in any truly quiet computer.

The quietest power supply I have used was the Thermaltake 420W followed closely by an Antec True 380. I currently use an Enermax 550W due to power needs and find it to be quiet, but no as much as the other two brands I have mentioned.

TT's Xaser 3 480Watt PS is great stable rails and its so quiet i can't hear it, big thumbs up here

Antec all the way. Great power supply. I have never had any problems out of mine.

What are you building that you think needs 400+ watts?

Anyway, TruePower 430 or 480 would be my choice. Fortron 450W is also quite nice.

Another vote for the Antec TruePower430. The fans inside the PSU itself are great, they move a good amount of air with almost no audible noise. Even better is the fact that they can control up to three of your case fans, slowing them down. Think of it as 7-volting without having to do any work.
