Hello.. recently purchased the Samsung 712n and had a question for anyone that owns one :
Do you notice that colors are brighter towards the bottom of the screen, in comparison to the top? it's like a very vague brightness gradient, going from bottom to top. barely noticable, but i'm picky so i can see it. my grey start bar is definitely a different color than the toolbar on an IE window, when i have it maximized. stuff just "looks better" on the bottom half of the screen.
also, what about getting colors on this monitor, "just right?" colors look washed out to me, i've ran all the diagnostic utilities, and am currently running the latest forceware drivers for my video card. i cannot, for the life of me, run this monitor @ any other mode besides 1280x1024. it complains that it's not the optimal resolution if it's on 1024x768, and shuts off if not switched to 1280x1024 immediately.
what gives? i just wanted a nice 17" monitor with decent color reproduction, and no ghosting.
the 712n surely doesn't have any ghosting, but uniform brightness & color reproduction still eludes it. unless i've gotten 2 defects in a row, i'm about to take this back to CompUSA.
