I purchased my 710t 3 days ago. And compaired to my cheep CRT its really nice . Its very bright, good contrast, but when i play games its blurry during fast paced games. UT4 makes me wanna throw up after playing for 3 minutes. Not to mention i use to be really go0d at SOF2. But after having this monitor for 3 days I have not scored a single kill let alone a head shot. It feels like the monitor has to "catch" up with my mouse. So im returning it and waiting for the next generation. just my 2 cents

I felt the same way, I wnet from being nasty in UT2k4 and then becoming very bad, I have fought to much on this.I will just agree

Ghosting varies from person to person. I can detect none without searching for it, and neither can most others.

Okay I dont have a LCD, and I have never seen one playing a fast paced FPS. I understand what ghosting is in principle, and I can imagine what it looks like, but I have never seen it, nor can anyone produce a screencap of it (unless they take a picture of their monitor).
Can someone explain it (relate it to something) or find me a pic of it (I have searched to no avail)
Thanks

And yes the 710T is blurry, you don't even have to move fast. Just move your mouse looking at a wall and you'll see. I see no ghosting but it's blurry.

just wondering, is that running the game in the monitors native resolution? or scaled down?

What exposure/shutter speed was that taken at? (that's on a Dell, btw)

Also, I just turned my refresh rate down to 60hz, and I saw pretty bad ghosting even in windows. When I turned it back up to 70hz, the ghosting was gone.

Just so you know, if you uninstall the samsung drivers and install the default plug and play drivers, you will be able to use higher refresh rates- up to 75hz (though the picture quality is harder to obtain - you have to manually calibrate).

No, no current LCD will ever be nearly as good as current CRT's of the same size when it comes to gaming. However, as I'm sure you've already noticed, the LCD's are just amazing at sharpness, the crispness of text, colors are bright and just amazing...

Want my two cents? Keep the LCD and your old CRT and go dual monitors. If you don't have a dual head graphic card, you can either get one, or add in a PCI card to drive the LCD. Then, use your CRT for gaming and stuff the LCD isn't great at, and the LCD for general web surfing. That's what I do. I have a 712n (Basically same thing, 17 inch, 12 ms, 600:1 contrast, etc.) as one of my triple monitors. I use it as primary monitor for most of my web browsing and stuff, and I have a 19 inch CRT next to it which will go up to 1600x1200 at 85 hrZ that I use for gaming.

That's the only way to go for me. I can't stand ghosting, but I can't stand staring at a CRT for long, long periods of time while reading text either. This way, I have the best of both worlds. This LCD was the best 380 bucks I ever spent :p

I love mine. I see no ghosting or screen door, and I can stare at it for hours, which is great for coding.

Which interface are you using: analog (VGA) or digital (DVI)? Analog will be slightly blurrier than digital.

what are your contrast/brightness settings?

maybe the Monitor just really isint as good as everybody says it is, No monitor can be perfect like you guys claim it to be, especially a LCD

Brightness = 54
Contrast = 56

That's what I got running through MagicTune.

That's on a DVI connection. It's a GeForce 6800 GT with Digital Vibrance turned off.
