700M Display issue

The LCD on my Dell 700m is not lighting up after POST screen with Dell logo...everything else seems to be fine as it starts up Windows and everything and got it to work as normal with external display.

At first I thought the screen was completely off but upon switching between LCD and external monitor I can see the screen flickering and looks like the screen is very dim, which leads me to think it's a backlight issue, but I've never had this sort of a problem so not sure where to go from here. Plus, when I turn the laptop on from sleep, the screen turns on fully for about a full second then turns back off (again, just the backlight it seems). Could this be a connection issue or a faulty hardware?

Anyone with similar experiences? Thanks in advance!
