i've been using my 7000 for about half a year now and it's been working great. With a 3.2 ghz prescott i've been running 48c temps on idle and around 58 on full load, which isnt bad compared to 70+ on full load with the stock HS. I've heard some great reviews about the 9500 and i was curious if it was worth looking into, the only downside i can find so far is having to remove the mobo to install it, which is a fucking PAIN with the time i put into wiring, but it would be willing to overlook that with a 10c drop in temps or so. Any suggestions?

I wouldnt expect "amazing" temp drops with your prescott, reguardless of the heatsink. Id say your load temps might be 3-5c cooler at most with the 9500.

unfortunately no. . .i work full time but im saving up for a car, so yea.. . can't say i just have tons of money lying around, but first and foremost i'm a computer buff, so i treat my computer with much more love than my car ever gets ^_^. Yea right now im driving a 88' camry wagon, looks like a graveyard but my computer stays clean and shiney and up to date. But either way i'm able to push that camry pretty hard, even with my friends who drive cars like a (turbo del sol, mitsubishi 3000gt, celica gt, and a couple of guys with integs. I've managed to keep up at least :D , gotta love the "manumatic" driving technique. But im looking to save up for something not from the stone age, maybe manual, definitely import, im not driving anything made in the US.

if you dont plan on overclocking your cpu i would leave the current heatsink alone :) if you want a new heatsink i suggest looking into the thermalright si-120
