7 Dead Subpixels, need advice please!

Hi there.

I bought a brand new VP930 19" Viewsonic. Its an amazing monitor. The colors are awesome, and videos, games, and all that are really nice.

But after a few hours of use, a couple of subpixels remain in certain colour. I mean (english is not my language!) they stop working in certain colours. Some of them are green, and some of them are blue, and you can find them using different background colours.

This Vp930 doesn´t have a backlight problem. I mean, YES it has some "light" in the corners, but only if I close every window, and put a 100% black background, which is impossible, because if something is on the screen that X doesn´t appear to me.

My question is, since I have the right to ask for a new monitor (warranty says 7 dead subpixels) should I ask for a new one? How common are dead pixels in LCD´s?. Im scared to ask for a new monitor and to get another one that has backlight problem or even more annoying dead pixels!


Any advice, any opinion? :rolleyes:
 
Send it back. 7 dead subpixels is ridiculous on a 19" monitor.

You shouldn't have more than 1 bad pixel, and most have 0 bad pixels.

Chances are the monitor you get back will be a lot better.
 
Yes.. I thought so. So many people here sayin "mine has 0 dead pixels" and mine its awesome...but it has 7!

They are really hard to find, and I live 400 miles away from the tech support. They have decents ways to find them? I mean, its really hard to find some of those pixels!. :(
 
I would defintely send it back for a replacement. I wouldn't tolerate buying a monitor with 7 dead pixels on a 19in.
 
Send it back, I am sure they will replace it immediately. 7 dead pixels are A LOT even for a 19 incher. However, in the future, should you get the same problem though, do not hesitate to use a certain program called "Dead Pixel Buddy" that will help you easily identify all dead pixels - subpixels.

I've also heard that there are also some special programs that help you fix the dead subpixels in your panel. Sorry, no personal exprerience here, just something I've heard.
 
Yes, I know that program. Actually I´ve used it with this pixeles. No results.

But when I saw that there were some many dead subpixels, I stop using the program, just because I don´t wanna fix some subpixel and not to be able to use the warranty (that needs at least 7 subpi)

But, yes. I have that soft. Its an 20k exe.
 
Dead (sub)pixels can rarely be fixed. Those programs (or animated color changing gifs/movies) usually only work on stuck (bright) pixels.
 
I have two stuck pixels: bright green on a dark background. How long do you have to run that looping color changing movie to get rid of them?

Can't remember exactly but i know its for at least a few hours, and if i remember correctly some people have run them overnite.

Personally i'd try it for 2 hours at first, then if that does nothing try it for 3 or 4 more hours, wash rinse repeat until you give up or it's fixed ;)
