6970 worthy upgrade?

I wish to upgrade my current desktop ( see signature). Is there a worthy upgrade for a 6970?

Ive been looking to go back to nvidia with all the new game release on the horizon. Im looking to play borderlands 2 and guild wars.

I really don’t think with a single monitor and ur rez that any new card would make a BIG difference. I would hold out save your pennies and wait till the next gen of cards to make their way to the market. Unless you are unhappy with your current performance, i would wait and see how it handles Borderlands 2 and Guild wars before u decide. I have a 6970 2gb and it keeps turning out high settings in all current games, so i dont see a reason to upgrade.

This. Neither of those games looks to be very GPU hungry (GW2 is cpu hungry).

With a single HD 6950 (850 Mhz) and a 1080p monitor (Benq G2420 HD) i have not had any problems maxing out settings in most games. In the most demanding one line BF3 i ran at Ultra 2x MSAA. Currently playing sleeping dogs at all settings maxed except AA at high instead of extreme. very enjoyable. I would say wait till the HD 8970 launches in early 2013. that might be a very good jump from the HD 6970.
