I have two 5970's right now, and they were great when I had one monitor. But as soon as I got 3 monitors, my computer crashes instantly, or in some games (Trine 2 for example), I get 1fps. I only have an 850w PSU, so I'm thinking it might be too much load with three monitors, but I'm honestly not sure.
Now, I'm in a dilemma. I want to play on max settings, with anti aliasing and all the bells and whistles at 5760x1080. I would love to have an average of 60fps, but honestly, as long as it's 30 - 35fps average on games like Metro, BF3, and Crysis, I'm okay with that.
So, I need a card that has two DVI and a mini displayport - this is a MUST. I'm between selling these 5970's for $640 and grabbing a single 7970 when they come out, or buying two 6970's and throwing them in crossfire.
Micro Stuttering is a problem I have had with Crossfire in the past, though. My GTX 570's and Quad CFX 5970's both had problems with it. I'd rather have 35 - 40fps and no micro stutter than 60fps and looking like 20fps. I'm not certain how bad the 6970's would be in 5760x1600 with micro stutter, though.
I couldn't really find any reviews on 6970's in CFX vs a 7970 at 5760x1080, the only ones I found were 1050p eyefinity benchmarks with AA turned off and medium - high settings depending on the game, so any links to relevant benchmarks and reviews would be great.
I'm really torn though. A single 7970 or two 6970s? I may buy a second 7970 or a 7950 later down the road when Metro: Last Light comes out, or any other games that I really want to play maxed out that would challenge the single 7970 below 30fps, but for now I have a very very hard time even swallowing the $550 pill. I can't wait until the 7950 comes out, though, unless it came out on the 9th, which I heard it isn't.
