6950 xfire / flash question

I just bought a 6950 and barely managed to fit in my case (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...cm_re=raidmax_smilodon-_-11-156-063-_-Product). I do plan on getting another for xfire but there is no way it will fit in my case. Does anyone have a case they can recommend for me when I get my second card?

Also if I flash it using the 6970 bios will it change voltages or is that only changed by powertune? I plan on flashing it to unlock shaders but OC'ing it only to 840/1325 (What it normally goes to in CCC) and I don't really want to change anything else. Thanks.

I have an Antec 902 case and both cards fit well. You may have to move your hdd's in order to fit the bottom card with some motherboards. My case has all the stock fans and keeps my cards cooled to less than 75c at full load even though thoroughly overclocked, and with the unlocked bios. Hopefully your motherboard is set up in a way that you don't have to sandwich the 2 cards one on top of the other. Luckily I have a 2 slot gap and it allows my top card to breathe better by keeping the bottom card away from the fan area on the right of the card.

Most Unlock bioses simply unlock the shader. The one I used to flash my cards used the 6970 gpu voltage along with 6950 voltage and timings on the ram according to the poster who created the bios.

My cards also work with the 6970 bios but I don't want to use that bios until I go water cooling in about a month or so.

Thanks for the reply. I have heard good things about the Antec (mostly the antec 300) and the 902 looks pretty good but I don't know if I can fit 2 cards in a mid tower with how my motherboard is. Do you mind linking the bios you used? I think the RAM is what I need to stay 6950 voltage because from what I have read the cards use different quality ram and the last thing I need to do is damage my card. The unlock thread I checked out seems to put everything to 6970 specs (http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=137136). Also my friend has a thermaltake and he recommended I get one of those. I only know them for PSU's I have no idea how their cases are overall.

I've had 2 thermaltake cases one was a Xaser case it was heavy as hell. Poor design but it was a very old build. The second was a Soprano, and it was okay. I always had the impression their cases were just :eek:kay"
but nothing stellar. What's your budget for a case?
 
I have an antec 300 with Rampage II extreme mobo. A second 6950 would fit my system well.
 
Thermaltake cases are pretty ass-tier. Apart from the Armor they haven't made anything remotely well-designed or well-built. Just cheap plastic Acase-style and Acase-quality cases, at much higher price tags.

I personally rate Antec for quality, NZXT for design and Coolermaster for a well-priced compromise. Neither of the latter are particularly high quality brands, but they have some nice designs.
Lian-Li stuff is by far the highest quality of all of them, but is blandly styled (this appeals to many, and I can see why) and very expensive.

To be fair, my Thermaltake Shark was a well designed case for its time, with great build quality, but just like the Armor, I think that it's an exception to the rule. It was also horribly expensive relative to the other cases out at the time. I was just in a rush to buy a case and fortunately had the cash at the time and a local shop that had it.

The original HAF is better than the HAF X, by far.
I own the original, and having seen the X in person, it's just an inferior design.

Like most CM cases, the HAF is built to a standard of 'adequate' but no further. Don't expect the front USBs to work, in most HAFs they only carry power, not data. Apart from that though, and the side panels you can bend with your fingers, it's still a nice case.
 
Thanks I went ahead and ordered the HAF 932. Hopefully I'll get lucky with the front USB but I could always just use the USB ports on my monitor.
