6950 users please look...2D small artifacts

Hi,

I have an ASUS 6950. The problem I am having is in 2D mode the clock drops to 250/150 .900v but if I try to open a picture or even CCC I get small artifacts all over the screen. Once the clocks go up to 810/1250 1.10v everything clears up. 3D apps and games run flawless.

I read that you can mod a preset and have the 2D clocks set higher.

Is anyone else with a 6950 having this issue?

I've always been an NVIDIA guy and this is my first stab at Radeon aside from when the old 9700 Pro was hot and I really want to like this card and get it running properly.

Any help is appreciated.
 
I had a similar problem when I had a 5850. I fixed it by using Radeon BIOS Editor (RBE) and xml modding to increase the idle clocks, it may work similarly on the 6950.
 
I haven't noticed any artifacts in 2d mode. Are you using the latest drivers?

You may have a bad card.

yeah I've tried a bunch of different driver versions. This seems to be way too much of a chore just to get the card to run right ay default everything.

Might need to send this one back.
