I have a question some of you guys more up to date on the current video cards might be able to help me with. I currently have 2 6950's and I think one of my cards is starting to fail . Is there a single card solution where I could get better performance than from my setup? I play at 2560x1600 at the moment. I thought about just getting another 6950 but I kinda want to get away from a 2 card setup for a while.

An R9 290 for ~$200 used, or ~$250-300 retail would be a nice upgrade, especially with the ram capacity for the resolution you play at. I assume your 6950s are 2GB models?

You could also go Nvidia and try out a GTX970, which is a comparable gaming experience but a little bit more expensive.

Ya the models I have are the 2GB versions of the card.

Yep, a 290 or 970 with 4GB ram will do you well @ 2560x1600. Your gameplay experience would be at a whole different (better) level.

I personally would spring for the 290 cause you can get them for quite a bit cheaper than the 970.
