Hey guys,

I have an HiS 6950 that I've been running with unlocked shaders without issue for some time now. Lately however when booting the system or waking the system from sleep it takes 20+ seconds for the display to actually show the desktop etc. I was thinking it might be a driver issue, but the same issue occurs when I try to boot into the UEFI bios on my P8P67 pro 3.1. I've switched the bios back to the default switch without improvement.

So is this just the sign that something is going wrong with the card, or is there a setting in the bios that I'm overlooking that might be interfering. I've checked to make sure pcie is selected as default display but I don't think that's made any difference. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated thanks.

Hmmm. Before I would say the card is bad I would uninstall the drivers and catalyst and try reinstalling them to see if maybe that helps and if not II'd probably start pricing new cards.

I hadn't thought about the monitor. I'll pull a 5870 from a backup pc and see if the behavior continues. thanks for feedback.

I would advise backing up the driver to 12.1 or earler. That is what it took to fix this issue for me.

For what it's worth it is the monitor, I put the card in a backup pc and got display right away.

I got a similar thing a bit ago on my 7970s. After booting up, i'd miss the bios screen and finally get display when windows was almost done loading. But then the issue just disappeared. now it's fine, not sure what it was. Maybe it'll go away....
