6950 flash to 6970

OK guys i know the newe 7970 is out and everyones all about seeing them. But i got a quick question that maybe someone can help me with. I got my xfx brand 6950 2gb refrence edition cards and what i thought was flashed to 6970s but After running pcmark07 its saying there 6950s still. So my question is did i just unlock the shaders or whats.
the default clocks are 880/135 now also up from the 800gpu and whatever the stock mem speed it. If i didnt flash the car to a 6970 think it would be worth it.
 
Run gpu-z and see if the shaders are unlocked (1536). If they are, you have what you need to tweak up to and past 6970 performance.

Not quite sure what you are asking here so I'll simply take a stab at it. You bought a pair of supposedly unlocked xfx reference 6950's or 6950's that had been flashed to 6970. It also sounds like the default clocks are now matching a 6970. Best way to finger out what you have is to download gpuz and see what it says. If you have 1536 shaders at the very least your shaders are indeed unlocked. The only thing I would be wary of with the 6970 flash is the possibility of bricking your cards as the 6970's use different voltages for the GPU and Memory. The increase to the GPU itself is no issue as 1.175 with unlocked shaders is what a stock 6970 runs at and unlocked 6950's are for all intents and purposes 6970 GPU's. The memory is a different story and you could fry it. Safest route is to simply flash with a modified 6950 BIOS that only unlocks the shaders then OC to your hearts content using software like asusdoctor or afterburner.
