6950 engineering sample?

I work for a retailer, often manufacturers will offer special 'deals' for retail employees. Recently AMD/ATI had one and I was lucky enough to get a 6950 2gb at a decent price. Just got it in the mail today, happy to see it was a reference with bios switch....but saw this sticker on the bottom.

Participated in the same deal, unfortunately they sent me an email apologizing that they had run out of stock even though I have an order confirmation!! I was really upset. Glad someone got a card though. Let us know if you overclock it, I'm curious to see if it goes higher or lower than retail cards.
 
I had AMD send me an Engineering Sample 5750 and it worked well. Didn't seem to OC any different than the reference XFX that I crossfired it with.
 
I hope it was at a good price.. likely it carries no warranty

they were probably happy to sell it for almost nothing since it has likely been through hell and has no warranty.
 
I had a ES TNT2 Ultra card back in the day. That thing FLEW. I didn't need to upgrade it until the GF2 cards came out.

Have fun with it.

Great price, and yes it is covered by warranty direct from AMD. The only caveat is that you have to be working at certain retail stores to be eligible for participation in the program, just like Intel's RetailEdge.

Yea I'm sure they have beaten the hell out of the cards, they come without any retail packaging or drivers, etc. But then again $169.99 for a 6950 2gb reference board, I'll put up with whatever crap they want to shovel at me ;)
