So i got my 6950 2gig almost a month ago but tonight was the first chance iv gotten to really game on it.. after about 30 minutes of star craft 2 on one monitor and netflix playing on my second monitor "same res" i got this terrible artifacted screen sound started skipping and it just froze... i never had any problems doing different things on my monitor with my old 4850.. thinking its the video card i ran furmark for about 2 hours and it did fine.. im at a loss if i should send the card back or not.

Is the card overclocked at all? Are the shaders unlocked? Which model 6950 is it exactly? Also have you used a software on screen display to check your temps, voltages, fan speeds, gpu and memory speeds etc??

What resolution are you gaming at in Starcraft 2?

its not overclocked at all... all setting are stock

its this card .. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102945

temps sit around 53 max..
SC2 is in 1600x900 native res of my monitors

I would never RMA based on only one game. Try running more benchmarks and games to test. If you don't have any other games to play or cash to play any other games you can try and play some free to play games on steam or some game demos.

See how 3dmark, and heaven run on that card. BTW did you unlock the shaders on that model?

Make sure Netflix isn't using hardware acceleration. There is no crash protection with GPU-accelerated programs on Radeons, so if a program crashes or bugs out, it takes the graphics driver with it. It's like Windows 98 days all over again when one crashed program spelt doom for the PC. This is why I keep hardware acceleration off. Anyone with a decent CPU doesn't need it for stuff like video playback.

Have you tried increasing the vcore a bit and/or lowering the memory clock? Artifacts usually have to do with memory in those situations

so as stupid as this sounds in completely cleaned out the ati drivers for the card and installed them from sapphire's website and i haven't had any more problems. I did turn off silverlight's hardware acceleration as well so that may have had something to do with it but i have not had any problems since.
