68xx available on Newegg, $180/$240 get it before they fix the leak

$239 for the 6870 and $179 for the 6850. Not too bad considering that the 6870 beats the GTX 470 and the 6850 beats the GTX 460 1GB

Some tests showed that the 6870 does not beat the GTX 470, but is close.

just got 2 6870 : ( who needs new brakes on their car anyways? theyll keep working till the rotor grinds away...

In Europe the 5870 is still listed at 349 euros and the 6870 is listed at 244 euros.

Something isn't passing the smell test, I guess we need some benchmarks.

Grabbed a Sapphire 6870. Don't forget to use the 2% cashback from Add It Up if you use Bank of America. It doesn't cover shipping but at least makes it a little better.

Figure the price will drop on the 6870s later on and I can grab another for CF since the scaling on them looks great!

lol Don't forget you can always use the e-brake to slow down and drift on the highway.

Lol, that, and i prefer the down shift method... who needs break lights... just when the snow hits the ground, that tends to send my mustang sideways haha

If the GTX 470 hits $220 or less I'll bite, otherwise I may go for the 6870. What would be nice would be a GTX 460 1GB for $160 so I could SLI them.

They are $169 after rebate right now.

I think I had a GeForce2 MX 400, then a GeForce4 MX 440, then a 9800 Pro, then an X800XL, then an 8800 GTS G92. Time for an upgrade...

Man why are amazon's 6850's so much?

because they want to get the money why they can. They are hoping for the people that rush out and buy on release not miss the extra 20 bucks. boost their profit margins. and they may well do it if the initial stock runs short.

I already bought mine on newegg, but was hoping for $4 overnight from amazon, guess not anymore.

other put it behind it. have to wait for the H review
yeah, id like to see [H] results at 19x12 specifically :)

Then you should check the [H]

Looking at Fermi
In regards to the 6870, if you currently own a GTX 460 1GB then the 6870 is a major upgrade in performance. However, if you own a GeForce GTX 470 the jury is still out on that. With current price drops, the GeForce GTX 470 comes into play in comparison to the Radeon HD 6870. In the past, performance has proven to us that the GTX 470 is faster than a Radeon HD 5850, but until now, it has been out of reach due to price. Now that prices have fallen the GTX 470 competes with the 6870.

well considering the 6870 does metro @25x16 instead of the 470s 19x12 max, and avg framerate in bc2 @19x12 is much higher in ATIs favor as well.. hmm, these are the only two titles included in both review sets but team green is on the bottom on both counts

...meanwhile, the OC headroom of the 470 would only just balance out the performance disparity - at the cost of increasing the already kind of high tdp. i personally would have little to no reason to go green at this point, unless the price drop is a motherfucker

Amazon is already price gouging and they don't have any cards.

These are going to go up in price and the 5850s may drop below them. The 6850 probably will remain competitive.

I don't think they will go up, they must compete with higher clocked GTX 460s and stock GTX 470s. I'm going to wait until the 6870 is closer to $200 to pick one up or get a deal on a 470 when they are listed under MSRP + MIR.

Yea I dont anticipate the prices staying the same.. I think that both will go up for atleast a little bit. Probably not to the same extent as the 5x00 series did or for as long, but through the holidays I am thinking.

I'll dump my 6870 in a few days before the 6970 lanuch. I don't think the 6870s will reach $200 until after the holidays.
You'll have a better chance at getting a 470/5850 at that price.

damn the amazon prices are outrageous currently.. Even CA residents are better off buying from newegg

Anyone else think that the fan on the MSI 6870 looks bigger than the sapphire one? i have had bad luck with msi cards, but if the fan is bigger and provides better cooling, maybe that would persuade me to buy msi again.

In for 2 of the Sapphires 5870's! Now i got a rig with a i7 920@ 4.2ghz with soon to be 2 470's and i just bought everything for a 1090T Black Edition that im going to overclock to whatever i can get out of it, and 2 6870's. Going to be interesting to see the comparison in 3d Mark Vantage.

would these be faster than say 2 260GTX SLI pushing a 30" screen? And does anyone know if they are 10bit cards?

Where are you getting that model number from? No one really knows what the other cards will be modeled at.Another thread someone was referring to the next one as 6990. Its really up in the air or I just haven't ran across anything as of yet.

Since they say the 6870 is close to the 5870 and half the price I would like to see some $400 5970 counterparts in the new 6xxx series. :D
