6870 problem??

Ok so I noticed on my 6870 another issue, GPUz the memory clock wont go higher than 283.5 when afterburner shows it at 1050. I dont get it, can someone else who has a 6870 try checking GPUz to see if they get a full reading while stressing the gpu. I might suspect it is a GPUz issue and yes I tried diffrent drivers to no avail.

Run any game. If it runs at all acceptably then its a reporting issue.

even if someone else runs gpu-z and it reports 1050, that does not mean something is wrong with your card. gpu-z is a non perfect application and has been known to report some odd values. if your ram was actually running at 283 your games would choke.

Yeah, mine shows that too. Must be a sensing error because it runs just dandy. GPU-Z will probably get it sorted out after an update or too if its just a program thing.
 
Are you sure it's just not the idle memory clock?? Put some load on the GPU and check it again.
 
It must be GPU-z 0.4.7 since it reads my 6850's memory as 270 when Afterburner says its at 1000 at stock profile and 291.1 when its at 1078 in Afterburner on the overclocked profile.
 
Overclocking is not guarenteed. Nor is it even good, you bought a 6870 at a certain specfiication and if runs any more then that is a bonus, not a guarentee. Be glad you havent fried it. If you rma it because it wont overclock your being a jerk.

did you READ the thread? OP doesn't even seem to have OCed at all- did you miss all of the "appears to be a GPU-Z error in reading and displaying the clocks" posts above?

That GPU-Z version is from before the 6800 series release. It might not support the cards properly yet. :)
