Yeah, they got 40, you might get 20. YMMV (your mileage may vary)

You could also get 100mhz. It looks simple but not for everybody.
 
well considering GDDR5 is 4 times the actual speed. even 40mhz(160mhz GDDR5) isn't to bad of an increase.

Oh yeah your tweaking the frequency not the effective speed. Good point. BTW they post a good performance boost form the memory running at a higher voltage in the brief article.
 
Ah pencil tricks, that takes me back. I remember my pencil trick overclocked Radeon 8500 and pencil trick unlocked Athlon XP rig. Hardware tweaking was so much fun back then.

yep those were the days. im just amazed im not bald now from pulling out my hair having to deal with that crap trying to get every mhz i could get out of something. because those were the days when that 1 extra mhz on the video memory was the difference between 5 or 6 fps unlike today where it means absolutely nothing.

When did 1 mhz OC get you 5fps? Because I remember pencil trick athlons and all that jazz, and it wasn't then.

Haha yeah. Stability and performance testing meant looping the quake3 crusher demo and 3dmark lol.
