NO ISSUES WHAT SO EVER!
Im not saying scaling is the best for every game out their, I know thats not possible currently with any mGPU setup. But I have to say I was a bit hesitant when I first was purchasing these cards. The GTX580 had come out and I looked at is quite seriously. But Ever since installing cat10.10e everything has been smooth as butter from the get go.
All my games work with AA, SSAA, and MLAA working correctly (Minus GTA4 not even running but thats a Rockstar issue).
I highly recomend one or two of these cards.
Now back to Crysis at 1920 x 1080 4xSSAA running perfectly!!!


Oh and if anyone knows why GTA4 after the latest patch wont run please tell me.
Ive actually choose these cards over the GTX580 for MLAA in GTA4. So i was very upset when the latest patch screwed me game over.
10.70 is what I have applied.

Please other 6870 owners chime in with your experiences.
Be it negative or positve.
 
2 be able to beat a GTX 580 on the cheap with no issues is a win win. I'm curious to know what games owners are having problems with.

It's not exactly 'on the cheap'. A pair of 6870s costs the same as a single GTX 580.
 
Borderlands I've yet to install but I will get on it soon. Right now Im breezing through Crysis, Oblivion, and COD. Stalker and Metro were next on my list to play honestly.
But I will come back with my impressions.
Anyway to 100% tell when CFX is working and when its not? Beyond low frames?
Just checked new egg and you can get 6870CFX for cheaper than a GTX580.
Atop of that im pretty positive that 6870 prices are going to come down faster than GTX580 prices or any other halo products prices for that matter.
 
I don't think the 580GTX even outperforms 5850's at stock clocks so why even debate on 6870's vs 580GTX.. I bought ref 5850's and after a year of running them with there stock bios i just may flash them to the Asus bios with unlocked clocks and voltage for my next upgrade.

Is there a known issue with Borderlands and the 6xxx series or CF in general? I've played through Borderlands happily on anything from a 3870x2 to two 5850s in CF with no problem. The only thing that hurts is a) General Knoxx's starting town (forgot the name all of a sudden) and b) ambient occlusion (minor to moderate hit, depending on the area).
 
Here's a breakdown of my impressions with this setup. I had to RMA a card at the start, which wasn't great and a total nuisance but now.... it's working spot on.

Stalker:Shadow of Chernobyl - Had problems with flickering sky textures and other gripes. Turns out using D3D Overrider to force VSync fixed most of it, and a console command sorted out a strange texture stretch bug thats been around for ages. Not too bad.

World in Conflict: The CF profile was broken in more recent driver releases so I had to rename the .exe for single player. Once working, it runs amazing.

Far Cry 2: Absolutely jaw dropping performance, looks great. (Shame its a boring game.)

Crysis: These cards gobble up this game, it runs superb with everything turned up the highest it will go.

Dragon Age: For some reason I get strange stutter/wobbly weirdness when CF is enabled for this one, I have to disable CF and it seems to actually run better. Something wrong with the profile when using VSync.

Dead Rising 2: Doesn't support Crossfire at all. Shame.

Fallout New Vegas: Runs amazing, thought it had a microstutter issue, but its fixed using some 4GB pagefile .exe , now it's perfect. Everything maxed out, solid 60fps at all times.

Aliens vs Predator: Wow! All I can say really. Just crank everything up and enjoy. The only downside here is that 4xAA doesn't play too nice. Game engine problem? Not sure. Doesn't matter when everything else is ramped up though.

Arma 2 - Get terrible texture pop ins, textures going weird. Have to disable CF for this one. Shame

Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead - Runs superb

Black Ops - Everything maxed out, 16xAA inc. , constantly over 60fps. Runs great with new profile.

Metro 2033 - Seeing as I prefer to have VSync on, it's delicate balancing game for this one. I settled on disabling Tessellation because in all honesty, I couldn't even tell what it was meant to do in this game. In AvP, sure, but this one?... nothing. Game runs amazing tho.

My brother in lay who has a 5970 cant play Borderlands with anything higher then 10.4 . Even to this day, you will get random crashes with anything above 10.4. I even drove up to Virgina to help him out and did the safe mode/frivesweeper and all of the fisaco. At that time I belibe we where up to 10.7 or 8 and finally I told him to stay at 10.4. So after seeing all those troubles first hand I sticked to Nvidia portrait surround.

highly recommend the MSI over the Asus... .02

I have two 5850s ref cards, great monsters and they hold down any game @ 2560x1600

I would take a pair or 6870s or even 6850s OCed if I had the cash to drop that kind of wasteful money over what I have now
 
I've played pretty much every game in my catalog without any problems. Black Ops, Borderlands, GTAIV, Dead Rising 2, Just Cause 2, Gears of War, and Saints Row 2. The only problems I've run into were caused by me testing overclocks...
 
I really want after market coolers for these cards. I mean for stock they work perfectly and they are quiet. But I want to OC these Cards and its just irritating having the fans turned up in any way.

I still cant run GTA4 which is just pissing me off. MLAA is what I wanted to see in that game!!!

10fps in COD4, about 15 in HL2, 1680x1050 all options on low for both.

(in other words, something is really really wrong). Still trying to figure that one out.

Oddly enough, borderlands runs great. :shrug: As does Eve.
