6870 corruption when dragging windows?

I've been putting together a new Sandy Bridge system, and I pulled the latest Catalyst drivers off of AMD for my 6870. When I drag windows on the desktop, I am getting some awful retained images like the screen is not refreshing fast enough or something (edges of windows ghosting, windows the layer below turn white while a window is dragged over them, etc.)

Didn't have this problem with the rig in my signature. Is this a driver or settings issue? I literally installed windows on a new SB build, and everything is running at stock at the moment (2500k, P8P67 Pro, 8GB Vengeance, XFX 6870).

Try downloading MSI Afterburner (or use the tweaker of your choice) , bump up the core clock by 1mhz.
By doing this it should stop the card from downclocking when you're just on your desktop.
Then drag some windows around and see if you still get that ghosting issue.

Same thing happens to me when the card downclocks, particularly when I alt tab out of a game. Everything runs slower, not just dragging windows.

Thanks, will try that. In my old rig, it was OCd with Overdrive and I didn't notice it. I can't believe this is still the same down clocking issue--guess I still need to disable flash hardware acceleration too.

Fixed, and the reason was moronic.

The Windows User Experience had not yet run. Once it ran, (7.6, my weak link being a stock 2500k) Aero finally turned on and fixed it all. Really, really, stupid.
