6870 CF vs. 6950 CF?

I'm running currently 2x 5850's in CF, 3x 24" monitors in Eyefinity.

Would I see noticeable performance gains in CF with dual 6870's? Or should I wait to see how 6950's stack up in comparison? Looks like the former option will be around $100 cheaper.

6950 is the way to go.
ur 5850 is the same basically as 6870.

so get 6950x2, I am.

I would suggest the 6950s because of the 2gb of VRAM on them. At high resolutions, like 3 monitor eyefinity, the 2gb of VRAM is a MUST. Plus, they obviously perform better than the two 6870s, at only ~$50 more per card.

Just check that your power supply can handle them, that you have an active displayport adapter (can be bought for $30 on newegg) or have a monitor with a displayport output, and that the rest of your system such as your CPU isn't bottlenecking them.

Are there any true reviews comparing the 6850 xfire vs the 6870 xfire at 2560x1600 res? I cant seem to find any.

Not sure about those, but here's a link showing why 2gb of framebuffer is very important at high resolutions:

Although this is with a different, more underpowered card, you can see just how much VRAM modern games really need.

Thanks.... I was seeing the benefits of the increased RAM here and there in reviews but it looks like that's the main thing for these super resolutions. Can't wait for the Crossfire review on here.
