6800ultra power question

I did a search and didn't quite find the answer....

I have a thermaltake 420w psu feeding a P4 2.66, 1gb of pc3200, 2 ata hdd, one cdrw and floppy, and an audigy 2 zs. Should an msi 6800ultra run ok on this setup? I know most makers recommend a 480w+, but does it really need that? Thanks alot.
 
I would think so,it is a pretty good 420 watt PSU. they mostly recommend 480watt+ PSUs because some people go out and buy no name 480watt PSU and expect to run that beast of a card
 
I beleive they changed the spec for that, PNY only requires a 300 w on their site for a GT now

keep in mine an antec or enermax 300w is like buying a no name 500w
 
Yea, its one of the better ones I think. Thanks for the reply. The main reason I ask is because I hear of GTs running at faster than Ultra speeds and they are the same card. Just wanted to make sure before frying my system out. :)
 
U'd be bottlenecked with ur CPU, if I were u I'd settle for 6600gt or 6800nu, both would be plenty for any game, and power wouldn't be an issue

Yea, I was going to go for one of those, but came across a potentially good deal on an ultra. So either way, I'm a winner. :p
