What's with the utter silence on these forums about the newest video cards from nVidia and ATi? No debates, no discussions, no flame wars? How the hell am I to decide which one to buy?!

Ever since they were announced (and since then, released!), I haven't seen a single discussion on the topic. Do you people have no opinions, or do you just not care to share them?

Do none of you have an opinion on the merits of pixel shader 3.0?! Or the hefty PSU requirements of the 6800U? Or the physical size of the card? Or which card is more future-proof? Or the latest DOOM3 benchmarks? Come on, some tiny minority among you MUST be interested in DOOM3, no?

Speak up, people! Timidity will not help clear the confusion that surrounds these latest video card releases. In fact, I urge you to make a post whenever you click that check-out button with a 6800GT/U or an X800Pro/XTPE in the basket. Let the world know! Anything, if it'll induce these shy forum dwellers to express their opinion of the cards or your latest purchase.
 
They're both excellent card's, they should both be able to run doom3 at full detail and 1600x1200 res no/minimal slow down :)

Same goes for HL2.

Except for the Doom 3 benches where the 6800 Ultra ran away with it...most of the reviews I've seen have the 6800U and X800XT trading pretty evenly matched punches. Just go with whatever you think you would be most happy with...not what people here tell you is "best".
