6800U PSU question

I run a GT on my Antec 350 no problem. I think a bigger PSU is my next upgrade however.

I beleive the Ultra has one extra molex than the GT as well so could take a little more juice.
 
get the gt...I have the ultra and my 450w antec...I can brely overclock anything lol....

will probably depend on the rest of your components and how much current they are drawing. I definately wouldn't expect any stable overclocks with a 350W PSU though.
 
18a should be fine for the most part if you have a pretty sparse setup. I have 21a on a Antec 350w that came with my case, it it's been rock solid... I have like 1 hdd and 1 dvd-rw and the only cards i have is 3com nic and 6800 leadtek nu
 
i have a friend that runs his asus 6800 ultra in a shuttle with a 250w psu...
 
Running a BFG 6800 Ultra o/c on my Antec Smartblue 350 watt. Works like a charm and I've had zero problems.
 
All you ppl with 350W/450W,etc.. Antec power supplies cannot compare your experience with the original poster's issue. You are all probably using Antec Smartpowers which are absolutely terrible PSUs (They're even on the "Do Not Buy" list in the the Power supply forum). However, seeing as how the OP is saying that he has a 380W Antec PSU, he is probably using an Antec Truepower (which is in a whole different league). Truepowers are far superior to Smartpowers.

Unless you have a heavy load, I can't imagine a 380W Antec Truepower not being able to handle a 6800U (especially considering that Nvidia only recomends 350W PSU w/ probably far less on the 12V rail for that card).
 
yes i was about to point that out..i forgot i had an antec smartpower 450...grrr
hey and any reason why htey are not good? I heard somehting about the rails on the same line or something..
 
Ok, just one quick question

Is it better to get the 6800U or the x800xt (power requirements aside)?

(performance wise)
 
two months ago I went from a 350watt ps to a 500watt ps and the change in the system was amazing. Yea, 350 will work, but youre on the lower end.. especially with a 6800 which I do have.
