6800U OC'ing question

I have an eVGA 6800U that came clocked at 400/1100. The best I could get out of it is 435/1150. The drivers will let me do 440/1160, but then I get artifacts. Any higher and the drivers reject it. My system consists of an AMD64 3200+, 2 GB of ram, 2 optical drives, 2 hard drives, a sound blaster audigy 2zs, and the 6800U. This is all driven by a 320W power supply. I'm wondering if I could squeeze more overclocking out of the 6800U with a bigger PSU or do I just have one of the crappier cards?
 
I am pretty sure the PSU has almost nothing to do with the artifacts. Get a better VGA cooler and hope for the best.

and get a new PSU anyways, that one is pretty small for nowadays technology, you can get a thermaltake silent purepower 420-watt for like 30something or 40
 
I would check up on the air cooling within your system. You could be experiencing this because not enough cool air is making its rounds into the comp; a bigger PSU may not be the answer, although will future proof the machine.
 
I don't see how you aren't getting low power messages from the video card driver with only 320w...........

That shouldn't be enough wattage for that system.
