He can't. Obviously he unlocked it so any warranties are void.

The sad thing is that the card may have still failed all by itself even without unlocking it.

The Rivatuner unlock is a softmod, so it can be RMAed. If he did unlock it thru a Bios flash, then I´d not RMA it but most retailers or manufacturers don´t bother checking the Bios eeproms.

the quad will either work or it won't.

RMA it. I RMAd two modded Gainward GF6800LEs because they had the black screen problem (both modded and unmodded). After those I got a MSI GF6800 and it worked well until I bought this GF7800GT.
