Do you guys ever have the problem where your 6800 automatically adjusts the core clock speed down to default? I have mine overclocked to around 375 and once in a while, it will automatically downclock the core to 350. When the card does this in game, it completely crashes my game for 30-40 seconds and gets very annoying.

Is there any way to fix this? I use rivatuner to o/c.

PS: speed at 375+ is artifact free in 3dMark03.

I don't know if it can be disabled but I wonder what temps you are running as temperature is the permissive for GPU throttling.

I've had the exact same problem. I don't think it's thermal throttling because I've seen this happen when my core temp was only in the 60s. There's only a few games (Riddick) that push my temps into the 70s and I've played for several hours at those temps and not had this auto-downclocking problem. It appears to happen randomly.

I'm going to try editing my bios with NiBiTor and set the default 2D and 3D clocks to my overclock. Theoretically this will eliminate the above problem because there won't be any other clock speeds to change to. Hopefully this will also eliminate the associated freezing.

I dont think its my temps, they dont go up to the 70's... they usually hover around 50 under load...
