Is something wrong with my Leadtek 6800NU?
I'm running the Leadtek 6800NU, 16/6 @ 380/800.

The person I bought it from was able to hit 11k in 3dmark2003, provided he did have a A64 system, so I expected to easily hit 10k.

I'm only getting 87xx. What gives?

Forceware: 6.6.9.3
DX 9.0C.

And my CS:S performance is pretty bad. I'm dropping to 40fps in games 6v6 or less...whereas I could sustain 60fps with my 9800Pro until about 8v8. What gives?

Overclock the card maybe? If it is, then I'd say go into the bios and try this:

Disable fast writes

Disable caching/shadowing

Then disable vsync, turn off all aa/af.

with a regular 6800nu it is not possible to get 10k is 3dmark03, most 6800gt stock settings get like 10500 min and around 12000 overclocked. 8000 range is expected for a 6800nu.

I know guys, but I am running overclocked AND 16/6.

And yet I'm only getting the numbers that people get when they run their 6800NU at stock? That's bad.

I could be wrong here, and don't take this as a flame, but wouldn't it be due to the fact that your using an AthlonXP? Those are getting a little long in the tooth, so to speak.

Did this system previously have the 9800 pro in it and you swapped it from the 6800nu? Did you uninstall the drivers properly, driver cleaner, etc?

Ok guys, I went up to the 71.25's, cleaned with Driver Cleaner.

Now I get 10,619 and my FPS in source is "on par" with my 9800Pro.

I'm guessing I got the wrong card for source lol. Or its more verification for me to go to A64 soon.

Very nice. I was going to suggest the card might be having problems running at 380 on the core. Hmm.. You seem to have it working though. Nice score. :). x800 pro gets about 10,600. I'm going to trying running 3dmark tonight to see what I get now. I haven't ran it since the 4.9's I don't think, plus I have a nice o/c on it now. I want to see if it's stable still. All my games run fine, but i'm just going to test it anyway.

Oh hey, if move to an athlon 64, i'll trade you my 2600+ t-bred for that mobile + money if you want. I really want a 2600mobile :D.

i can get 12k on 3dmark03 with 6800nu with slower cpu..
my 3dmark03 score with cpu at xp3200+ (200x11) n 6800nu (400/900, 12,5 pipes) were little bit over 10k.. this is with older driver, before rivatuner (that can unlock extra pipes) came out..

rofl, you are wrong

you know, i do not understand all these 3dmark scores people are shooting out...a lot of it seems so contradictory. i can understand slight differences in motherboards and cpu...but it should still not account for a difference of 2000+ on 3dmark.

here's my setup:

amd a64 2800+
epox 8kda3j
hyperx pc3500 512mb
verto 6800nu @ stock.
latest drivers & updates for hardware.

my score is about 6800 for 3dmark03.

i am a little disappointed, 6800 seems pretty shitty for my setup. so i guess i am in the same situation as op, what the hell is wrong???

also, this system struggles with half life 2 at times (~20fps, high setting @ 1680x1050 no AA and AI)...which is annoying.

Yes that does sound low. I don't use 3DMark03 to spout off on the Internet about my ePenis but I use it to make sure my system is performing at the proper level. You should be getting 9500-10k stock with no problems on that setup. Here are some scores to compare to, and you should be spanking me as you have a A64.

XP-M 2500+ @ 2.2 Ghz (11x200) - 6800NU 350/700 -> 9021
XP-M 2500+ @ 2.2 Ghz (11x200) - 6800NU 350/700 16x1/6vp -> 9821
XP-M 2500+ @ 2.2 Ghz (11x200) - 6800NU 380/800 16x1/6vp -> 10665
XP-M 2500+ @ 2.4 Ghz (11x218) - 6800NU 380/820 16x1/6vp -> 10911

first off all... ur using forceware 66.93.. those are so out lol.. for benchmarking at least..and who cares..ur card is not "performing like crap" :rolleyes: anyways my computer is dead and i cannot use my ultra because my motherboard is dead and i am waiting for my rma..so for now.. i am stuck using my lil bro's comp that has a fx 5200 running at 275/475 and this performs like "crap" hehehhe

my boss has a 6800nu, we hacked to 16/6 and it preformed like crap, then we tried 16pipes with only 5 vertex shaders, and it ran way better.... 8700 is a bit low for a nu@ 16/6..

some dont liek to run 16 pipes and some don’t like the extra shader, and some don’t like either...his also would not overclock 1Mhz when running 16/6, but went to 400/???? With 16/5...

Might be worth it to try different combos...

dammit this is annoying...

what i did:
1. used driver cleaner to remove old ati drivers & nvidia drivers.
2. installed forceware 71.25 in safemode
3. unlocked the extra vertex shader (couldn't unlock pipes without artifacts)
4. o/c card to 375/765 (from stock of 325/700)
5. o/c cpu to 2.0 gighz.
6. reran 3dmark03 using same settings.

new score: 6289!!!

WTF. some are saying bench means nothing, but i use it as an indication for other games. half life 2 still runs like butt, when people are reporting it should run better.

my ati 8500 ran 3dmark03 with a score of ~3800, if i recall correctly. so it's a little disappointing to see that i paid so much for ~2000 performance increase.

iamtherat, that is way to low. Have you installed the latest nforce chipset drivers? I am wondering if you had a bad gart driver install?

yeah, i did install the latest nforce drivers.

er...i dont know what do...i tried doing a clean boot with only windows services and aps, that didn't seem to help. disabled fastwrite.

here's a sample of my results:
i think this is with the 6800nu @ stock since i only loaded the necessary windows program.
