6800k and esxi

Simple question - will the 6800k work with Esxi for a home lab? I thought the K series weren't supposed to be used for VM's for some reason or another. Maybe that's changed? I checked vmware CPU compatibility but they don't have the 6800k listed as a valid option.
 
It'll do VT-d and VT-x, but won't do ECC RAM. I think the MB is gonna drive your ability to the and ESXi home lab, versus that CPU. The CPU should be fine, just have to get the right motherboard.. Look for a Server motherboard that does 2011-3 sockets.
