hi everyone,on friday i bought myself a brand new galaxy 6800gt to replace my 9700 pro but in my hurry to install it i forgot to uninstall the ati control panel.when i first plugged the 6800 in it looked fine when booting up and in windows but it was in 800x600 res so before installing the 66.93 drivers i tried to put it in 1280x1024 res and then the screen started flickering/looking corrupted so i did a reinstall of windows and tried again this time it now flickers as soon as i boot up,with or without drivers,ive used driver cleaner 3 as well.
I thought it might be an nvidia issue so i tried an old geforce 2 and geforce 4 and they work fine,so im going to do one last format and reinstall to see if i missed anything then if no joy ill exchange for another on monday. its almost like the card needs "resetting" if you see what i mean,sounds silly i know but i cant figure out whats wrong,its not like you can break a card running it with different manufacturers drivers present can you?

yup i think your right i tried it in an old p4 mobo without any drives attached and the display is corrupted from the off.fortunatly the e-tailer i purchased from is local and they are going to let me take it back today and swop it over and test it,i think ill ask them to test the new one to make sure it's not a faulty batch as id like another galaxy,there oc'd from the factory and come with an arctic cooling silencer so their good cards,well if they work properly!
 
turns out the card was faulty,i got him to test the new one before i took it home.it seems to work ok ive just installed the drivers and as soon as i download some patches ill see how it plays/benches.must be the quickest rma ive ever done fairplay to overclock.co.uk really good service,they didnt have to let me swop it today its not like they have a returns counter or even a proper retail counter just a warehouse really,so really happy now i know its not my pc!
 
dunno,im still updating steam and installing progs as ive just formatted but ill let you know.i cant wait to play some battlefield vietnam and far cry with decent settings ill get riva tuner and 3dmark tomorrow and see how it oc's.im hoping they have selected some good chips seeing as the cards oc'd out of the box and im impressed with the arctic cooling fan thingy as well :)
 
im quite impressed with the galaxy 6800gt my 2003 score more than doubled at stock speeds,compared to my 9700pro,same with 2005.as for oc'ing ive only put it up to 425/1100 [stock speed is 370/1000]and it is 100% stable also with the arctic cooling silencer the gpu stays under 60c! so im sure i can go higher,and its quiet too. this is one card i can recommend 100% :)
