what's the normal temperature for a 6800Gt under heavy load???

i'm living in the tropics and getting 89 - 92c

that's really warm, but i don't think it's too dangerous. I don't think i've seen my leadtek get above 75c. I haven't had problems though and it idles at about 59c so I haven't looked while in game.

Really warm my arss, those temps are just high, period. Do you have good airflow? is it stock cooling? what drivers are you using?
My 6800GT is idling at 50c normally it is about 3-4 degrees cooler, under a high, heavy load it gets to 65, thats the highest ithas gotten since I installed my zalman.
I would look into those temps a bit more...they are on the high end

so what do u suggetst i do? i have some AS5 leftover.... i applied some to the core earlier today.

still getting the same readings

Yeah, those temps are quite high. A lot of 6800gts had issues with the hs making proper contact with the core+mem. Are you running it w/out the little mermaid cover thing?

In my opinion, I would spring for the zalman vf700cu to bring those temperatures WAY down just to ensure a longer life for the card. That and better overclocking :)
It's what I did, and I'm thrilled w/the zalman.

i applied some Thermal compound to the core....should i do this to the memory as well? even though it is the core that is giving those high readings?

one more thing, do you guys run the Real time HDR ibl program an check your temperature readings as well?

let it run for 3 mins and tell me your temperature reading.

cuz i cant understand why a 3 day old card will be running 50C idle and 90+ on load.

Holy SHit!!!!!!!!

i got it!!!!
i'm now at 79C on load

to all overheaters, this is what i did

all I did was to have my fans blowing out (side and rear(120mm))
and also the pci slot beneath the Video card, i removed the cover and let air flow in from there

thank GOD, mi card save!!! yippie
no need to buy a Silencer or whatever

congradulations...AirFlow is so very important. Also, if you havent already, I wouldnt put any thermal compound on the rams on your card, I did and it was such a pain in the ass to clean it up.
