6800GT or x850XT?

Ok, I think I've narrowed it down to two. Would you guys reccomend an x850XT or an 6800GT? ( Feel free to reccomend other cards, as long as they don't go over 350, give or take. )

If you look carefully, you can find a 7800GT for under 350. I'd reccommend against spending that much for a past gen card.

Now, if you want to spend 200-250 on a nice card, get the x800gto2, which unlocks to an x850xt with a bios flash. Perhaps even xtpe.

Also, It would help us if you could say what games you play. For source games, that x850 is a pretty nice little number.

 
Well I'll probably be playing HL2, BF2, Doom 3, Halo, Etc. Yeh, also, I was wandering a nice card from like 200-250, and then 300-350.

I would with those titles, of course how Doom3 and the 6800 were really put together as a package, I would definately use the 6800GT man.
 
Thanks...See Here's the thing. I won't be buying my parts until Summer. Lol, I should have mentioned that. The 7800GT will proabably be cheap by then. But, I wonder how they will play games.

Its really cheap now hehehehe

I've found several stores that sell 6800GT for higher than that.

What the hell man? Asking about a video card 6 months ahead of time won't help you much. Here's what you do. You set aside how much you want to spend, and when the time comes around.... Post a thread about it THEN.

We can't tell the future. They may be something better than the current generation of cards for 200-250. In all likelyhood, 6800GT's and X850's won't be keeping up with the that gen of games.

By summer, you may have cards that can play your current games at 2048*1536 resolutions :eek: :p

I guess it never hurts to ask, but don't take what we say NOW as the gospel for THEN. You have to keep up with the times. I mean, hell, the cards for 200-250 may be totaly different by christmas. THere may be 7600's and x1600's in high availability, or the 7800 and x1800's may be available for that price range.

7800GT's sell all day long for $350. I have even seen Dell sell em for around $300. Only a GTX is faster, so that might be your best bet.

No. I believe Saphire is putting out their last batch of X800GTO2 that will flash to 16 pipes pretty soon. Thats just what i heard though.
