6800gt or 6600gt

i'm in need of a new system for all the upcoming games but i'm wondering whether i should just get a 6800gt now or wait and see how two 6600gt in sli perform. what do you guys think?
 
SLi compatible motherboards wont be out until december-ish anyway, thats a few months to wait, reguardless of hwo they perform.
 
even with whats out then, it will be the first revisions, and not much difference over AGP8X, reguardless of 2 6600's (400$) or one 6800GT (prob like 370$ then), still same performance
 
6800GT 16 pipes on one card = efficient

6600GT 8 pipes x 2 cards = less efficient (syncronization, latency penalties, etc.)

SLI can increase performance I think the estimate was up to like 70% (its not 100% or double the single perf.)

So I would think the 6800GT would be faster.
