Ok, whenever i play games even on the lowest settings at some point during...could be 5 minutes could be couple hours..but at some point my video and computer lock up..then reboots itself after sitting for a while, would blame on ram or something, but the way the display looks, i'm kinda thinking it might be the card...agp slot..or i have no idea lol

Specs are :

500Watt PSU
AMD 2500+ 1.83
1 gig ddr 3200
BFG 6800 GT OC
CD/RW
DVD/RW

anyways heres a pic :

are you using a DVI cable? I had a somewhat similar problem and it turned out my DVI cable was bad, tried it for a while witha VGA cable w/ DVI adapter no problems. Got another DVI cable and it worked fine since.

i have same card, mine has done that a couple times looks just like that, but mine has only done that on start up.i hold power button in,shut down, wait then power up again.i thought i had a weak power supply(Antec 350w)but i see you have a 500watter  do you have the dual LED fans?they really spin up on mine when i hit the power, the only time my card does this is at start up,made me think it really sucks up the juice at start up  i can play and not have that happen to me anytime in the middle of anything, just at start up.i have a CRT,i notice you have older 2500+ i have old 2.0A @2.6 but why mine at start up and yours after?i still have an asus p4s533,not really a motherboard for a BFG 6800 GT oc :D

You may need an RMA. Bfg has the lifetime warranty. I had the pink checkerboards once (with ti4200), rma'd and no probs since. I have a bfg 6800 gt oc and I've never seen this. If you have an older video card, you could test your system for a while, and see if you can narrow the problem down.

Hi
Mine did this too. After a lot of head scratching it ended up being my RAM speeds were too high (needed 8 3 3 3 but had it set too 7 3 2 3 i think). After changing this its been fine since. Is your RAM generic? Is it 2 x 512Mb? I had 3 Elixor 512MB modules.

Hope that helps.

Could be thermally related if it takes a while to show up. Check temps on your cpu & video card and see if thats has any relation to your problem. ;)

coo tks, gonna try turning timings down a little bit later on today...temps seems fine they don't seem to move, i have tryed both bacles dvi and analog and they both do it so i doubt that. and yes it has the dual led fans...not quite sure whats causing it still, just confuses me cause of how random it is to do it...

my power went out and my 6800gt oc showed that when it initially came back on, rebooting fixed it, these probably arent related but it looked exactly like that.

Yeah, I think the way the card was made....Is just retarded or something...cause i got it shortly after it came out..oh well hopefully i get it figured out or fixed soon..

The fact it happens after a little time indicates it is probably a heat issue...whether it be your RAM heating up (not very common), or your graphics card....try pulling the heatsink off the card and re-applying the thermal interface material with some quality Arctic Silver Ceramique or similar...

Timings didn't help...tryed playing something locked up within 5 minutes of pc being on/in game..as far as the heat thing goes i kinda doubt it, only cause i have the side panel off, and i have my ac unit for my room blowing clean inside it...so that shouldn't be a problem..but who knows

Thanks everyone for the help..I gave up and got an RMA gonna take 10-14 days once they get it, so i figured i'd start ASAP.. :p
