ok so i was looking around at the show off your video card thread (in vc forum) and noticed that some people kept the ramsinks on their 6800gts and still used gpu waterblocks. my question is do they come off seperately for all cards? i have an evga 6800gt that I plan on watercooling as soon as i get it back from rma (DOA so i didn't have a chance to exchange the cooler). I also ordered some ocz copper bga ramsinks that i was gonna slap on it but if i don't have to take off the stock heatsinks i think i'll just leave them on.

Anyone know if they come off separately? if not, how easy is it to take the whole shebang off? i've seen some people rip some parts off their cards before haha

thanks!

yes the gpu sink is removable without taking off the ram sink on 6 series cards, not on 7 though. i would put the ocz sinks on their if you already ordered them though

think there's a big difference? i'd rather not tape something on there that I don't have to if there will be very little performance gain...

i mena you not like celophane taping it to the ram or anything. its ocz ramsinks, they are copper and they are great. so yea the copper would be better than the aluminium of hte 6 series ramsinks.

i was one of those people who did that. for that matter i went out and FOUND ramsinks for the 68 ultra and then put that on my 6800vanilla cuz i liked the way they looked.

your choice. if you already have the ramsinks, you can put them on or you can return them
