6800GT make up for lower CPU overclock?

In short, I have a crappy PSU with 13A on the 12+ line. To run a 6800GT with my Mobile 2400+(2.4GHz) at 1.9v and RAM at 2.9v, I most likely would have to bump down the overclocks and voltages to avoid a PSU malfunction. I'm asking if the 6800GT's raw power would make up for the speed I would lose by putting my clock speeds slower? Or should I get a quality 530w Fortron, and then get the 6800GT later? I'm saving up for the 6800GT, and it's taking forever with no job, but if it is a better idea to get the PSU first, then that's what I'll do.
 
you can get a good psu for not too much so someone will probably link to that below


if you play high graphics settings yes the 6800gt is worth it as it is super awesome. If you are a competitive gamer and play low settings your frames are usually cpu and memory limited so this would hurt you.

The 6800gt will make up for a few hundred mhz on the cpu easy, I'd get the card if money is that tight and you can't afford both.

But you can get a decent psu for well under $100, so maybe it wouldn't take too long to save up for that after you get the card.
