posting this cause i want to find this card cheap in the store in pci-e. Also if anybody knows where you can get a 6800 GTO in store i will definently buy that. Also im from the U.S.

Isn't a GTO an 8 pipe card like the LE? Man it's been a long time since I've heard of GTO's.

it needs to be PCI-E. The GTO is a 12 pixle pipeline GT with the Gddr3 ram. The pipes are usually not usable although you can unlock them and have them in working order somtimes. You can pick these cards up on ebay for around 200-240
 
$200-$240 seems like a rip off really for that card then when you can grab a brand new X800XL for $250.

Honestly, just look on Newegg for a new one or shop around at the For Sale forums here for one. Or you can grab a X800XL for $250 at Monarch Computer.
 
well lots of people are happy with ATI, and lots of people are happy wiht nVidia. Unless you run Linux, I'd say go with the best deal from either company. Just suck it up.

If you don't want to spend $350 - $50 MIR = $300 (I think that's still going on) for a 6800GT, or get a refurb, you aren't gonna find one for less than $350. I think, I haven't looked at 6800GT prices for about a week or two.

If budget is a concern, I'd get that X800XL for $260 shipped. (monarch). Otherwise spring for the $300 XFX 6800GT on Newegg.com. If it's still there.
 
Well you have three options:

1.) Get the GTO, spending money on a product that is not that great of performance at its price range.

2.) Get a X800XL, great card, best performance at its price period.

3.) Spend $350, and then hope you get a rebate on a 6800GT.

I'd go with option 2.

You the 6800 GTO is a 6800 ultra just with a bios swap. I find that worth way more than the x800xl. Also people have been known to be able to put a quadro bios on them.
 
You'd think so but really the messed up pipes could really screw you over.

Thats the only bad part. I've been looking for them on ebay and asking weather they have tried the pixle pipe opening mod or not and they mostly havent tried it except for one. Can you run crossfire on a A8N-SLI deluxe?
 
We dont know yet. Also, if you're thinking of a dual card setup in the first place why are you trying to go budget with a GTO, just grab a 6800GT and get it over with, you'll end up getting charged a perium if someone knows for sure they can unlock the pipes on a GTO.

Granted, yes, and it's great when it works, but it's very hit and miss...
 
get a used GT off e-bay or here is the best bet the X800XL may be fast but its lacking SM30 and thats starting to be some thing youll want or need in the next 6 months
 
It's not even great when it works because the ram is such a bottle neck... You'll never hit 6800gt speeds on ram.
