6800GT Driver = Heat?

77.72 driver

had a 6800Ultra
it idled 53C./ maxed 3d temps 70C.

I just got a 6800GT, swapped it in
75C idle? 95C. load!!!

what the!?!?
can it really be that hot?
any ideas?
 
Its the stock heatsink. I was at 61 idle and 85 load until I put my
Zalman on. Now I am at 50 idle and 65 load. The Ultra heatsink is bigger and more effective.
 
im about to snap my 6800 pcie in half i hope it falls off a cliff and rotts in hell
i get 35c ide 40c load watercooled and my damn games still lag until i take a tube from my AC vent and put it on the card then everything runs fine
 
Mine used to go to 91 and then crash. It would not get hotter than that without crashing. And it crashed with almost every game. I never used to have that problem 6 months ago so I am not sure why it started to happen. I finally bought a Zalman and installed it tonight. Now I am reaching no more than 80 in games. I can't believe how much it makes a difference.
