6800GT Crashes with AMD overclock...

I have the system in my sig. When ever i overclock the CPU, the video card (AGP) lasts only a few seconds in a game then crashes the whole computer. In GTA:SA the sound loops while the video is stopped. Then the computer eventually reboots. If i make the CPU stock, it plays fine like it should.

I've tried turning off fast writes, it gets a little better, but doesnt work. then i tried AGP 4X. Again didnt help.

Anyone know whats going on?
 
Considering that your CPU is at 2.7ghz, it's probably that, it's not going to keep raising forever you know.

No matter what the OC is its not stable. But i can keep the voltages teh same and go back to 200 mhz and it works fine. Its prime95 stable and the mem is memtest86 stable...making me think thoes two are not factors
 
That's odd. I'd blame it on your PSU if it wasn't reliable :p

Have your latest BIOS drivers? I'm stumped.

yea i blamed it on PSU too. So i got this OCZ 520...and it wasnt the problem :(.

I actually just upgraded the bios drivers...didnt work.
 
Damn.

Video drivers? Did you try any others? *Maybe* it could be because your GPU is flashed to an Ultra? Maybe flash it back and see if it continues doing it.
 
Is the AGP bus on the system locked. That could be a factor because at 300HTT you'd be running it WAY out of spec.
 
I flashed it back to stock for this whole ordeal. I have tried 2 different drivers.

Also, I have locked the AGP to 66 and 74 with identical results.

What should my appature be set to in bios?
 
Well, chances are the ram has nothing to do with it. It's worth a shot though. Maybe somethings wrong with one stick and not the other.
 
If the lock isnt working then keep your HTT at 300 and set the AGP to 33mhz. That would put the slot at exactly 66mhz with that HTT.

I can only do 66, 74 or 8:2:1. How do i get it down to 33?

And will fooling with the AGP voltage help at all?

You can try to up the AGP volts to 1.6 and see if it helps, you wont hurt anything.
