Will post benchies in this thread later after I get back from skool! :)

Surprisingly the HSF on it is much smaller than the one on the msi fx5900.

Awesome dude! Mine will be here Friday :).

I discovered something NEW a bit ago as well!! You know how everyone was saying you can't enable higher then 4x AF in Far Cry? Well you can!!

Just go to the Far Cry system.cfg file and set it to 8x or 16x AF in there. I already tested it to make sure.

When you go into video options in Far Cry after setting it, it will say "Custom". Just dont try and change it because the "Custom" option will disappear and you'll have to do it again..

Enabling it in Far Cry supposedly sacrifices some performance at least on ATI cards, but its suppost to give better IQ.

You can read more about it in this thread here:

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=31421&page=4

Along with FRAPS you can use this program here to test frame rates in Far Cry:

http://www.benchemall.com/

It uses your in-game settings. Now lets see those 1600x1200 w/ AA + AF results!

I'm going to run my 3.0c Northwood at stock for now and i'll OC it later on when i decide to take everything out of my case and install my new AeroCool HT-101 and Zalman NB cooler.

At 1600x1200 a 3.0c should be fast enough not to be a bottleneck.

Yea i definitely wanna see what scores your getting on that 6800u teamed with a FX-53.

Got my 6800gt in today also. BF:Vietnam looks sooo much better at 1600x1200.

Congrates dude, I got mine today as well. The card has exceded my expectations so far.

Actually no, jacuzz1 posted his scores in another thread and they were pretty much within range of Brents..

It is important to elaborate. I posted frame rates based on the WHLQ dirver as did {H}

Right because a person should believe a hardware review over the...hardware itself.

dude seriously stop.

tranCendenZ what else do you have planned for as far as benchmarks go?
and jacuzzi what else do you plan on benching as well?
Id love to see what you guys bench at side by side.

wow congrats

91.9 fps for battle of proxycon...mine was ~35 fps lol

Well, I'm not benching FarCry cuz I'm not patching it or playing it until 1.2 comes out.

I think I might fire up Painkiller and bench that.

1600x1200 4xMSAA 8xAF
-and-
1024x768 8xSSAA ?xAF

Hey dont forget me! :)

I'll have mine on Friday and i've got several benchmarking ideas planned.

well I know youve got a CPU that should hang...so throw yours in the mix to !
Ill ahve mine later on...gotta finish the 939 setup first :)

Well just did some benchmarking in PainKiller (using benchmark c5l1 console command) and found something cool

1024x768 with 8xS AA (1x2 SS, 4x RGMS) / 8xAF
29.00/83.11/131.46
Score: 83.11

1600x1200 with 4x RGMS AA / 8xAF
29.00/86.39/147.85
Score: 86.39

Basically, people who like to play in 1024x768 (for the higher refresh rate, for example) can use 8x AA w/ super sampling and 8x AF and get the same speed as people who like to play in 1600x1200 with 4x AA and 8x AF. Both are very playable. Tried 8xS at 1600x1200 and the score was cut in half, plus observed some slowdown.

So supersampling appears to work well in Painkiller, which is cool.

whoa, very nice. small request, could you post a picture of a scene with SS enabled, and one with SS disabled?

thanks :)
being on a ti4200, i dont get to experience that super sampling too much ;)

I will do the obligatory 3d marks benchies tonight if I have time. i have alot on my plate.

I might have time until Friday night. I will also oc and run the benchie (name escapes me right now)that Burningrave posted in my thread.

heh sorry have been playing games

tested out some more with supersampling
Far Cry doesn't work yet because prior to 61.71 drivers you can't override the in game settings with control panel settings and im using 61.36. However, i think this game will benefit tremendously from SSAA.

Call of Duty works great with supersampling on NV40, 60+ fps all the time
Here is a page I made for a shot I took from the Call of Duty Dawnville Demo
1024x768, high quality, full trilinear, 8x AF
http://www.reflectonreality.com/images/nv40/cod.html

mouseover is supersampling :)

Whoa thats very nice. The Super Sampling definately makes an IQ difference, especially on the vegetation. Thanks for the images. :D
