6800GT and 71.84 forceware

I just got the 71.84 forceware drivers... and ever since my temps have been really high.

before i was lucky if i broke 50 full load, now im hitting past 60 under load

some of my games are also locking up from time to time... never useto do this..

City of heros, Counterstrike source and 1.6

any other info needed?

clock speeds on GT are 415/1140

i have an NV silencer 5 on it
right now its idling at 54c

It's a glitch in the drivers. Try the 75.90's

now its idling in the 57-60 range... with ambiet at 33c check that idle at 54c


the clock speeds are back to normal at 370/1000

Im idling at 52*C with 414/1.14 w/ stock air cooling

ill have to check the cooler, make sure it on good, i also have a vantec card cooler

just ran that program rhtbrl or however its spelt... i maxed at 69c

i have card at 415/1440

I've been idling 72-73C!!! since I upgraded.

I don't necessarily think its a glitch.

I think Nvidia just enabled using 3D hardware to speed up windows (normally 2D) by default in the 71.84's.

Similar to how longhorn will use 3D for everything.

Similar issue with my 6800U. Appreciate you're OC'ing 3D, you may want to try tweaking the 2D a couple (literally 2Mhz or so) over stock.

Has worked for a lot of people (with Ultras at any rate)

alot of my games are crashing or i can see white lines in them... i cant play city of heros without it crashing

The 71.84's suck, plain and simple. There are bugs in the SLI performance in Doom3, for one (who knows what other games?). Performance is not the best, people are complaining of lockups, etc.

I tested them and promptly went back up to 75.90. Now I'm running the 76.10s and I'm very happy.

Just say no to the 71.84's!
