6800GS Overclocking

What the heck is the tops you would get out of the core and memory on an eVGA 6800GS with the stock cooler? A friend is claiming he is pushing over 500mhz on the core. I fnd that hard to believe seeing how my 7800GT isn't even stable that high, and that I haven't read anyone getting over 440mhz stable.
 
dunno about evga but my gigabyte is working at 500/1200 daily (with stock at 50%) temp max 65, and for benchmarks at 525 and more :rolleyes: memory however dosent go over 1200

I can run around 515MHz on the core of my stock eVGA 6800GS for benchmarking with no artifacting. Do I feel safe running it that high for games? No. But it does it if I want it to.

Memory I leave at around 1100 for daily use, sometimes going up around 1130. Temps never reach over 65.
 
7800gt and 6800gs are different cores, some 6800gs cards come overclocked almost at 500, im running mine at 485/1200 right now
 
Mine autodetected at 515/1.22. Ran benchmarks and games just fine. I dropped it down to 500/1200, because there is no reason to run it at its edge for a negligible performance gain.
 
I was doing 520/1.2 with the stock cooler, playing FEAR and COD2.

It was too loud and I switched it out for a Silencer and now I get about 515/1.1 stable. I have it dialed down to 510/1.05 at the moment, just because.
 
I run mine at 530/1.27 on a Silencer. Plays Quake 4 and COD2 just fine, but it isn't really used for gaming a whole lot- just available if needed. Temps run about 35 idle and 47 loaded with 3dmark
 
XFX 6800GS @ 559/1237. That is about as far as I could push mine. I am using a NV Silencer.
 
My roommate has a VF700 on his, and his everyday clocks are 510/1250. Max he was able to do 3dMark was 540/1280.
 
Currently running mine @ 540/1250 stable. The GPU is limited to 550, but temps never go over 55C @ load with no artifacting.
