6800 & X800 GPU Temps Post!!

I just want to get an overall idea of what people are getting for GPU temps on their 6800 and X800's. Thanks

BB ATi X800 Pro, with stock cooling;
Idle: 40c
Load: 66c

I used ATi Tool to test the overclocking limits of the card, and under load while testing it went up to 66c.
 
I you refer to the new 6800 GT Review at Guru3d linked from the [H] news page, using a temperature probe they found the GT under load read out 49C and the X800Pro read out as 66C. Keep in mind that this was measured using stock cooling and measuring on the heatsink backplate and not from the drivers. Basically his goal was to show the potential amount of heat that would be dumped into the case. Unless I missed his comment, I don't think he mentioned noise levels, but he seemed impressed with the reference nVidia cooler.

Its not the same testing enviroment either. The GT has a metal back plate, where as the X800 Pro does not, just bare PCB.

Stock VGA Sil. - 62C load - 39C idle
VGA Sil. w/mod - 50C load - 34C idle


i wouldn't doubt that 6800gt is cooler, NV has some nice stock HSFs, like the bfg fx5900, but after looking at the pics of the testing method,, i'd have to say the results are borked, that back plate doesn't even touch the gpu and it is metal vs pcb measurement of the x8--pro
 
Yeah definitely hard to say since everything isn't identical, but seems like had seen elsewhere that the 6800 GT ran far cooler than the FX 5950. From everything I have seen the x800Pro's are on par with the 5950's as far a temps, so the numbers seem believable to me. Realistically the x800Pro is a speed bumped 9800xt with more pipes so I would expect it to run hotter. Seems like it was also the case with the 9800XT that a 3rd party cooling solution definitely beat the stock cooler. That being said, I still would say you proc or P/S (if it doesn't have proper air flow) will be the largest heat source in the case for the time being. Unless you are running outside the manufacturers spec I wouldn't be too concerned.
