what is actual performance difference between the ultra and regular 6800? Does anyone have any links or information that shows the real world performance delta between the 2 (or barring that, theoretical benchmarks/evaluations...)

On a fast CPU, to give you an idea of performance, in 3dmark03:
6800 - around 8500-9000 3dmarks
6800GT - around 11000-11500 3dmarks
6800 Ultra - around 12000-12500 3dmarks

The 6800 is a bit limited by its 128mb of memory and slower memory speeds, however its 12x1 pipeline, sm3.0 support and fast pixel shader performance makes it worth the extra $100 over the 5900xt/9800pro. However, if you have the extra money to spend, the 6800GT ($399) is *the* card to buy this year IMO. It has the same pipeline configuration (16x1) and architecture of the 6800 Ultra, can be OC'd to Ultra speeds, and is an amazing value for the money, and it is a lot faster than the 6800.
