I have a eVGA 6800 ultra with BIOS version 5.40.02.15.07

is there any reason i would want to flash the bios to a newer version? if there are any? more stability or whatever? i don't really know what it does or what effect it has on anything so someone enlighten me
 
well since you already have an ultra, all you really could do is flash to ultra extreme speeds but why would you do that when you could easily overclock to it. No point in flashing when you already have an ultra."If its not broken, don't try to fix it"
 
im pretty sure the UEE bios up core voltage but in turn loosens memory timings making it slower at 1200mhz then it would be at 1200mhz with origanal bios....but looser timings will allow a great OC on the ram
 
well nirad9er, you have a point .. but with what you said Ballz2TheWallz, you guys think i should flash it or not?

is there a risk in the the new UEE BIOS upping the core voltage?

and also.. which would provide better performance and stability in the RAM... 1200MHz at original BIOS timings, or higher than 1200MHz but with looser timings? (however high it can go with the UEE BIOS)

(my core currently will not do higher than 450MHz, so if the UEE BIOS will allow me to do higher than that, along with higher RAM OC that's high enough to make up for the looser timings, then hell yeah!)

so if u guys think i should give it a shot, then plz provide me with links where i can get the UEE BIOS and also something to flash it with... thanks a lot!
 
I don't think it's worth it personally. Unless you like tweaking. You may get higher clocks and no better performance because of the loosening of timings or whathaveyou. What's the point if it only nets you 1 FPS difference? You're already beyond stock Ultra settings.
