Im getting this card tomorrow most likley, But in my decision I like to think how long the card will last me for. I have had my 9700 Pro since the first week of release and has lasted me for almost 2 years now.

Does this card and (future) driver releases have the ability to be in it for the long haul. Forgive my ignorance since I have always been ATI.

proabbly get 1 1/2 years to 2 years out of it. i dont really see any games on the horizon thats going to push harder then the hl2 and doom 3 engine.

I think you'll easily get 2 years out of it. Of course that is only my opinion, and personal belief. I also believe that if you want to migrate to a dual core or quad core processor in the next 2 years, you'll be able to migrate this card to that board. I just cannot see AGP disappearing any sooner than that. If you are one that is going to have kittens when someone posts framerates in Doom 3 of 2X what you can get, then you might not be satisfied 6 months from now. IMO, we are in a watershed moment in the vid card arena similar to when the GF4 was released. The cards have jumped ahead of the games, and I don't see any on the horizon that'll bring any of the new gen cards to their knees (unless you have to have ludicrous IQ.)
