I have a Dell 2001 FP monitor. the monitor stays on , the power indicators always say green. however the screen/display actually goes to a black screen. about to throw this 6800 ulta against the wall. I have to have enough power beint that i have a 510w. what happens if you dont have enought power to the gpu? could i be using the wrong power tail from the supply?

Try booting up in Safe Mode and see if you get video then.

If yes, then its a driver setting most likely, if not, I'd guess bad card.

booted into safe mode and YES it is still happening. instead of opening folders. it happens when i close a folder or a screen. also when you click on start. anyone else having these issues with there eVGA 6800 Ultra?

thanks

wanted to add that I attended a LAN party this weekend and playing games was fine. I only got a black screen for 2 seconds 1 time. Just thought of it. whan it flickers. sometimes it makes the words fuzzy. and it has to flicker some xx times agian till it goes back to normal. i have 2 rails dedicated from my power supply so i really doubt its the power supply.
