someone was saying the new 6800s have their pipes burned so there's no chance of unlocking. is this true?

Well I think the new 6800's are being used with the NV41 core, which "naturally" has only 12 pipes, as opposed to being rejected GTs/ultras.

I bought a Leadtek 6800Nu in December and was able to open it to 12,6vp without artifacts. 16,6vp caused problems though. It was AGP

If its a NU it's supposed to have 12pipes and 6 vertext shapers.

You try to unlock the extra 4 pipes and 1 shader. :p

i just got a 6800 a few days ago.... i unlocked it to 16/6 and it overclocks quite well too :) I used rivatuner. there is a thread on this board that tells you how to do it

It's impossible to unlock the extra 4 pipes and 1 shader if you have a 6800nu PCI-E. I have one, but I'm able to OC it from 350/600 to 457/842 which kind of makes up for some of the pipes.

i'm at work right now but fedex delivered the new ram to my house. i'll report back with the resutls when i get home and try it :)
